IDENTIFY THE STONE THAT CAUSES RIPPLES

IDENTIFY THE STONE THAT CAUSES RIPPLES
Standard

All thoughts are like waves. The originate in mind on a slightest provocation. Have immense energy at the start point and slowly spread and engulf the entire mind.Once we are under the spell of a thought, everything else pales into insignificance. Even the rational productive thinking goes for a toss.
This is the main cause of dilution of concentration. Those who are able to do rope walk over skyscrapers, simply do not let their concentration fritter away.
It is very easy to say, ignore the distracting thought, yes you can ignore, but the energy associated with the thought floats on the surface of brain and disrupts.
This brings us to a very interesting fact. Thoughts are only on the surface of mind. Like a stone dropped in a lake, causes ripples on the surface , and sinks to the bottom.
By ignoring the thought, we are not addressing the actual cause. The actual cause is the stone. The pebble which got dropped on our consciousness and caused the ripples. It is that stone which simply sank to the bottom leaving the surface in a chaos of tempest.
Identify the stone. Burn it with awareness. Then ignoring the ripples will be a very easy thing.

THOUGHTS CAN VISIT US, BUT WE WILL ALWAYS WATCH THEM
Standard

I believe that with meditation, the important thing is not to create expectations of personal gain. Do not feed the desires of our ego.
Simply just sit quietly and contemplate our breath. When we visited by thoughts, just watch and let him go. We do not grab, do not judge or create links with this thought. Just got back focus the subtle sensation of air moving in and out through our nostrils.
Thoughts can always visit us, but we will always watch them.

BETWEEN YOUR MIND AND YOU IS YOUR HAPPINESS.

BETWEEN YOUR MIND AND YOU IS YOUR HAPPINESS.
Standard

This is a very deep insight. Let me try to convey as correctly as possible.
The first thing that we must realise is, that we are not our bodies. This body will decay and perish. We will leave this body to take another form, as and when the conditions are ripe for the transition.
The second thing is that we are not our mind also. This is difficult to accept or agree with. But if we for a moment , suspend out judgement, and accept that we are beyond our mind, the journey to underlying concepts and happiness can commence.
We are not our body, we are not our mind. Physically , the mind stays in our head. All likes, dislikes, judgements ,opinions, if we look closely, spring from our head.
The thing to realise, is, we do not stay inside our head. No, we are not there, we are just behind our heart. Dive deep into yourself from your mind, dive , locate your heart, and stay there.
Now is the real insight. Happiness stay in the middle of two. It stays around our throat. Happiness is de linked with anything else. When the mind feels happy, in fact the thought travels to the throat and meets happiness there. If we become conscious of our neck, we will smile.
Now every other concept falls into place. For real happiness, look inwards. Happiness has nothing to do with external factors. Real happiness is from inside.
Convert this thought into your own daily practice, in your own way, you will discover how happy you are….This is a very deep insight. Let me try to convey as correctly as possible.

WEEDS IN THE MIND

mind-07oct2015
Standard

This is a nano insight, and very relevant in today’s context.

We are not used to accepting positive things with out doubt and questioning. We are used to accepting and storing negative emotions effortlessly. In fact we crave for negative emotions. At times we derive pleasure in being sad, feeling bad and down. We love this state so much that in case happiness visits us accidentally , we feel out of place.

If this is our natural inclination, can something be done yo ensure that happy state becomes our default state? Can we reverse the trend! The answer is yes. The yes is accompanied with a condition. The condition is simple, but requires a very unique commitment. The commitment is in terms of belief.

Have supreme belief that things can be changed and , natural inclinations have feet of clay. Armed with this belief, be aware of the state and natural inclination. Go up the ladder in reverse order. Fill you mind with the commitment to belief, be aware of the feelings at all times. The way weeds do not require fertilisers, negativity just creeps in to the mind uninvited. It starts spreading its venom, polluting all happy moments, memories and actions. Mood swings take place, and before you realise, you are on to a thought train in the reverse direction.

You will become aware of negativity, when the train has gained momentum. If you try to stop it now, the internal momentum will provide the energy. But if you shine just the light of awareness, the train simply vanishes. It evaporates.

You are having a sad thought of a past unhappy incident, if you try to stop the train of thought, it will comeback with double force. But if you become aware of the thought, and wait for it to unfold the next one, it will simply vanish. Do this two three times and suddenly you will feel a surge of energy released and a wave of happiness engulfing you. Try it, it is helpful.

MIGHT AND MERCY

MIGHT AND MERCY
Standard

We all talk about our rights and justice.Human rights are the ones which we very passionately demand from the social order. Rights are enshrined in the constitution of the country.

Irrespective of the country or constitution, four rights are the basic ones. Infringement of these generate maximum passion. They are – the right to privacy, the right to freedom of expression, the right to livelihood, and the right to religious freedom.

Others are added to it, some morph a few but these basic rights are enshrined in various forms in different documents all over the world.

Similarly, the justice system is based on two principles, no innocent to be punished, onus of proving guilt is with the social order. In a few crimes, the onus lies with the accused, but largely, the state needs to prove that crime has been conducted.

But these arguments are from the supply side. They are the views from the seeker side, from the consumer side , from the oppressed side, from the content part of society.

The real thing that gets the system in place is, might and mercy. The container has the might, the system dispenses mercy. The oppressor has the might, it showers mercy on oppressed. The producers have might, they release mercy.Change your perspective to this line of thought, and you will witness the struggle of the day in a understanding way.

At our own level, let’s try to put this use. We have all the might. We shower mercy. Our might is boundless. We will never run out of might. A human being is a mighty force which is inexhaustible. Always keep this thought at the back of your mind.

You are the might, that is giving mercy to the world around you by showering love. Unconditional love. Love with no expectations. Boundless love. The more love you give to others, mightier will you feel. Might is all about dispensing love.

Might is not the start point, might is the end result. This is a very revealing insight. Ponder over it. You do not assume might and then start loving every one. In this case it is conditional love, which is based on temporal format and will evaporate the moment conditions change.

But if unconditional love become the fountainhead, might comes in the back ground.

Unconditionally breeds love. Pure love is mercy. Mercy develops might.

THE STATE OF BLISS OF THE MIND

MIGHT AND MERCY
Standard

The journey to reduction of suffering commences with a smile. When we smile, we internally acknowledge the presence of a state where there is no suffering. But it lasts a few moments and the memory throws back the suffering which hijacks the thoughts.

The second state is the state of happiness. Here the knowledge of reduction in suffering lingers for a long time. It oscillates between less to more, background to foreground . It is mostly dependent upon external condition and attachments.

The highest state is the state of bliss. Here all external conditions, and attachments dissolve. There is pure feeling. In fact feelings also dissolve. It a state when existence, knowledge and bliss are the only three things that matter.

Existence, not in relation to the world or others, but existence as a light which is part of the universal flame. When we think of ourselves as just an atma, a soul, which is a temporal visitor of the body, as part of paramatma. The true existence is experienced.

Knowledge of the fact that we are a part of a larger self. Not knowledge about the worldly things. Knowledge of the fact that attachments of the body with the world has a knowledge which will evaporate with the body, but the knowledge of the self being part of bigger self will stay with the indestructible part.

With these two comes the state of bliss. It is beyond smiles, it is ahead of happiness, it is beyond joy, it is simply the state of bliss.

Meditating on the two things, brings the third into life. Once we have tasted the state of bliss, we will never revert back to ignorant state. The key to this path is, start with the realisation of existence, invite knowledge into it, and experience bliss.

WORK NON STOP

WORK NON STOP
Standard

The central theme of Our philosophy of life is “ have no attachment to fruits of your work”. You have a right to work, but no right towards the fruits of your work.

This thought seems to be impossible, how can I do something, just for the sake of doing and simply have no desire towards the fruits of my work.

But just consider this for a moment, in spite of its seemingly impossibility, it has survived 8000 years. In spite of a history of 1200 year old religious tyranny, forced conversions, atrocities, this thought still survives and as the indications are will spread in the world.

The beauty of the thought lies in its adoption. When one internalises the concepts, he is transported into an understanding which become part of life. Even if one wishes to do away with them, one cannot return to the state of ignorance. After you have gained some knowledge, can you revert back to original ignorant days! No , this is the cause of its survival.

Those who imbibe the concepts, move up in the evolution ladder. They become more evolved, they view the world, events, as action, work, and devotion. Once they have reached this state, no one can fall back.

Some nano insights that I can share are

  1. Work incessantly. Let there be no moment in your life, when you have nothing to do. Divide work into a few buckets. One is work to earn lively hood. We all do that most of the time. Second is work towards improving knowledge. Third is work towards transmitting your knowledge to next generation. We neglect the last two. We seek sensual pleasures to avoid the last two. But if we are responsible, we will do all three, we need to work incessantly. There is hardly any time left.
  2. Work as a master. We can work as a master, we can work as a slave. Most of the time, we work as a slave. This causes most of the inefficiencies and faults creeping in the work we do. If we work with love, we work as a master. This is a great insight. Our work will be more efficient and of good quality.
  3. Dedicate on completion to God. This is the reply to our first question. How can I forgo attachment to the fruits of my work? This can be simply done by dedicating it to God, your own God, whom so ever you believe in. If you are a non believer, then dedicate it to your non God.

A small example, I write this post, I share it, and the effort, I simply dedicate to God. The moment I do that, the feeling to getting anything in return simply does not arise in me. I have made my website, I do my posting, with love, at my own pace, nothing expected in return. Dedicated to God.

You can try the third part of dedicating to God, the effort of your actions, in your day to day life, it will be a very enriching experience.

REALISE YOUR OWN POTENTIAL

REALISE YOUR OWN POTENTIAL
Standard

What is the prime responsibity of all of us towards our own children? If we try to answer this question to ourselves, we may feel a loss of words, an awkward moment , something which we have been doing but never vocalised or verbalised to ourselves.

The answer range from, making them responsible citizens, giving them good values, train them in worldly wise skill sets, training them for future, give them best education, filling their lives with joy, make them happy, make them more successful than ourselves.

All of this can be achieved in two steps. The first is in the formative years, help them firm their ideal. Let the children discover the world, and construct their ideals, let them mentally identify a role model, let them be guided towards the image of what is best. That’s why in olden days we had stories of valour, sacrifice, love, were told by grand mothers. The Ramayan is a religious book, but also shapes the values, sanskar, through repeated listening. Ram lila was an annual affair, to reinforce these values in the neighbourhood. All this helps in forming a child’s ideals.

Once the ideals are set, in all fields, ignite their ambition. Let them aspire to reach their ideals.Support all efforts, nudge all actions towards realisation of the ideal.

And the secret is, keep on raising the bar gradually, till they become adults. Once they become adults, they will have ambition, they would have gone through a childhood where the expectations from them were never fully met, but their achievements grew. Their achievements were appreciated. Their pride in their success will fuel their next level effort.

Now asking for more from own effort will become a habit.

They themselves will now aspire for more, it will be time for you to look at their success, by withdrawing in the background.

Keep showering blessing on them…..

HOW STRONG IS YOUR LOVE?

HOW STRONG IS YOUR LOVE?
Standard

We all, all the time transmit love. Love is the basic emission from our mind. We are wired to transmit love, when we are not doing, or thinking anything, we as default commence transmitting love. Let this be a basic assumption we agree and internalise. Let this conviction be strongest in our minds, we are love transmitters.

Then the logical question arises, why do we get sad, angry , irritated, upset, jealous, all the time, with few windows of feeling the love? Why we do not feel the love that we are transmitting? Why it gets overcome by grief? Why love stays in the background, only to spring up intermittently?

The nano insight here is a very simple observation . When we love someone, something, some concept, some idea, we transmit love, with an urge to posses. We do transmit love, but on the carrier waves of a desire to posses. The underlying feeling is to grab, collect, hoard, include, cover and prevent others from doing the same. The loan smitten love gets polluted by inability to share. This morphs into anger, jealousy, sadness and every other emotion that we keep on transmitting to the world.

Just try to love something, selflessly. Just try to give without expectation. Just try to share with no right on justice. Just unshackle yourself from the desire.

Simply let it go.

The true love will be felt. Mind will rise to transmit more. Love will gain strength. It will become stronger than the venom that others spew on you. You will become transparent to criticism. Your face will glow. The inner beauty will come on the surface.

World will be a better place. Just ask yourself, how strong is your love?

INTROSPECTION

INTROSPECTION

What is the mark of a true leader? When the world is busy in fighting on day to day basis, he architects the next level. Once a plan has been finalised, operationalised and achieved moderate progress, the leader detaches from the discourse and plans the next level.

For planning, the inputs that is taken is the vision of the final fructification of the initial task. To get the clear vision, the leader needs to introspect. We all need to introspect. We all need mid course corrections in our lives.

How do we introspect? When should we introspect? Let me share some nano insights.

For introspection, simply pause. Detach yourself from the current activity. Push yourself back and very sincerely ask yourself, this question very slowly. “ What am I doing?”

The answers will range from current activity of next few hours to the aim of the activity.

Again ask the same question with emphasis on doing. “ What am I DOOOING?”

Now the inner voice will reply conceptually. Earning my livelihood, teaching, passing values, making fool of others, practicing dishonesty.

Again ask the same question , this time emphasis on I ,” What am IIIIII doing”?

The answer will now be even deeper. Wasting time, wasting time and wasting time.

For the last time ask yourself , this time emphasis on what “ WWWWWWHHHHAAAATTTT am I doing?

The answer will be “ Nothing”.

Take a deep breath. You have formatted your mind of all attachments. Now you can water seeds of what you want to do. Now you can define the course for next few weeks, months, years.

This is a simple technique of introspection.
