“ I like you, but…”
“ He is doing a great job , but….”
“ fantastic, what a spectacular feat but…”
What is the feeling generated in you while reading the three sentences above? Confusion, correct. What the author wanted to convey, the author wanted to share joy, praise someone, applaud the effort. But ended up in generating feelings anything but good.
Because the praise was conditional. There was a but attached. There was a judgement attached which takes away the wind from the sail.
You cannot trade on love. You cannot trade on truth. You cannot trade on sharing joy. The moment you do any of these, you cut the body of the feeling and it simply dies. It gets replaced by loath, sarcasm, unhappiness.
