the flame

the-flame
Standard

Out in the open
The lamp blows out

It had no oil
It feared the foil
Lacked the motivation
No determination

No energy to fight
The engulfing darkness
It resigned to fate
And simply died
The flame flickered
And took a bow

Vanished into oblivion
Leaving a wisp of smoke

But the world blamed the wind

The fight is never between
The flame and the wind
It is always between
The light and the will
To dispel darkness.

And the world blames the wind.
